Wow! I don't know what prices are like elsewhere, but our just jumped up to $1.229 per liter today (up from $.899 a month or two ago)...this translates to about $5.53 per gallon (Imperial gallon) or $4.92 per US gallon (from $3.60/US gallon in March). Well, the oil companies have been saying prices will hit $5.00 per liter, maybe this summer, so I guess they're getting there. I imagine our influx of tourists from the US will slow down with gas at $20.00 per US gallon!! :furious:

Prices are never going to be the same either. Here in the Northwest (Oregon) we've got some of the highest prices in the nation. Filled up yesterday with 87 which was $3.34 US. Last month I was filling up around $2.80 US. I can't speak for CA, but part of the problem in the US is the fact that our dollar has been losing it's purchasing value since the creation of the Federal Reserve in 1913. Coupled along with peak oil, we're in for some hard times. If anyone feels like they've got the "stomach" for some depressing information, do a google for following words. "Peak Oil"

We went from $2.79 this morning to $2.99 on my home from work. Crappy thing is I need gas in my Jeep. I knew I should have stopped this morning... Crap! Maybe I will skip work tomorrow and tell them I am saving the environment today....

I know the feeling, between myself and the wife we've got three jeeps. Filled up my Cherokee the other day which was almost $60. I'll feel a little bit better about myself this next month as I'll be finished with my current employer and my next job will only be 12 miles away versus 50.

I just filled up today April 26 2007 for $3.35 a gallon just as the worker was changing the prices. "UP or down?" an older lady shouted at the man working there and he put his thumb up.

Sigh

It is hard to beleive that 6/7 years ago it was less than $1.50 a gallon.

Maybe it is time to renew this thread...

What's harder to believe is I remember paying 19 cents a gallon many moons ago.

40 yo this year...I can remember .76 cents fom the mid/late 70's

So 1970's-ish to 2000-ish gas prices double....2000ish to 2007 gas prices double (and then some).

Since I commute between states, I bought a 2-door, 1995 Ford Aspire a couple years ago for $800 with 80K mi and some body damage. It is a korean tin can with mazda drivetrain and a ford emblem. It gets 45mpg, cruises around 75mph, and has a 7-8 gallon tank. It usually costs me $15-20 per fill up from "E" depending on fuel prices. 1300cc and 63hp. AC works great but acceleration takes a severe hit if it isn't floored. Like most cars, flooring it opens the compressor clutch circuit. Tires are $13.99 each. With the back seat out of it, it holds a lot more stuff than many suvs.

I got tapped from behind by a kid driving recklessly in mommy's Lexus. Their insurance Co would not give me $950 for repairs on a car with a book value of $600 due to a poorly written Georgia law. I took the perp to small claims court. No, I did not fix it nor do I have to. The plastic bumper was split by the impact. I stuck a drywall screw in it. It has about 130K mi now.

Haha, more money for the locost build! Crazy kids in mommy's car think they own the road. Hopefully that small wreck taught him a lesson before he gets into a fatal wreck.
