Just noticed that Frappr is now going to either make people pay to have the map or you can export the locations out to use with a different program. Anyone know any other programs that we could replace the Frappr's 'go map yourself' ability?

Yeah..I saw that.

I exported anohter map I run, with maybe 50 people on it. I loaded it somewhere else (Google Earth, maybe?) and only 3 or 4 pins made it. I'm not sure if that's a problem with the exporter or the importer. I looked in the file, but it's binary so there's not much to make of it.

The cynic in me wonders if Frappr intentionally crippled the export so they could look like good guys but actually get those that care about their maps into paying. I saved the file, but will frankly will probably never do anything with it.

Relative, that's not that far for me. I just don't have a Locost, yet!

Hey All!

Since Frappr is dead, I looked around and found a Frappr alternative that uses Google Earth as a basis. I started a Locost Builder Locator for us to use. It lets you pick an icon (a few are quite appropriate!) and you can add your Pic to it. It's been running over 4 years and since its a portal to Google maps it's not likely to convert to a pay service anytime soon, so it should remain stable for our uses!

The link is: http://www.mapservices.org/myguestmap/map/botbasher

Once you start to create your marker, you have an hour (not my limit) to edit the location and info before it locks it in, so think of what you want before you enter it.

So go ahead and fill it in and lets see just how many of us are out there!!

Enjoy!

Three, apparently. I couldn't find a bald guy for my icon so I had to use the baby.

When I first opened the map it looked like a Pep Boys ad. Manny, Moe, Jack and someone else.

It looks like the google maps image is about three years old... I can see my old supra parked next to my place if I zoom in all the way... Terracotta.... unmistakable color...lol!

The google maps of my area are less than a month old. I can tell by the pad they have graded down the street for a new business.
