So here is my task at hand for the next few days. That is a frame swap on a slingshot. You know its not that far off a locost...

What are the details on that engine?

That's interesting. You can see with a three wheeler it is not so concerned with torsional stiffness.

It's easy to see how they chose to stiffen the frame where the front coilovers mount. Sort of a variation of the "Y" braces in a Seven.

I am curious what it uses for a right angle drive to the tooth belt to the rear wheel. It's not so hard to source a diff but large right angle drives are less common. Also that rear swing arm looks massive, can we get a picture of that too?

Why a frame swap, do they want a Locost?

Sure Ill grab a pic of it for you and its solid aluminum and heavy... That right angle gear case I really dont know. But for 1500 it could easily be used as a good strong transfer for a bike motor variant locost. The frame was bent probably from the factory.

I am not impressed with the drivetrain on the Slingshot. If I put it in the "In theory it could work" section I would be told, "Great first effort, but you can do better".

Ding turbos done, and the frame swap is down to a few bits of body to go back on.

So now I am waiting on the silly rubber sealed metal banjo bolt seals and the ECU. Then I can bleed the brakes, clutch and fill the cooling system. Then the arduous task of test riding it, I know its a tough job they make me do it.
