The 318ti is pretty rapidly approaching 200k, so instead of driving the wheels completely off of it, I decided it was time for a new fun n cheep car.

I did a little bit of shopping and after a month of chasing cars within 300 miles, the stars aligned. I had to go to NC to visit with family this weekend, and while I was up there a Chrysler Crossfire appeared on Craigslist.

A couple of hours later, this is now my daily.

Black on Black 2004 Crossfire. Base model with leather seats and power everything.
3.2 liter V6 and 6 speed trans.

I've always liked these cars. The styling and especially the view from the rear appeal to me. it pushes my buttons; 2 seats, sporty, fastback, hatchback, manual, and fun to drive.

I always liked them too. I thought the styling was very bold for Chrysler at the time. It's based on the small Mercedes sports car, which is one of the very few Mercedes vehicles I find interesting.

Enjoy yourself!

When they were new I drove several with the intention of buying, but they simply weren't edgy enough for me. The performance was wrapped in a soft cocoon, but now that I have my edgy car I think I'd like one.

That's a fair statement; it's a very refined feeling car, very German in it's performance characteristics. It's definitely more interesting with the electronic assists turned off.

I think I'm going to enjoy it as a commuter car and tossing it about on a Solo course from time to time.
Come to think of it, there's a track night in America coming up next month and I have a free entry from Starting Line School...
