Before you condemn all diesels, if you really want to know what a diesel can be like, go to your local Mercedes Benz dealership and take a diesel powered ("Bluetec") GLK or C class SUV for a drive. Push the E-S button until it says "Sport Mode" on the dash (the other setting is "Economy"), buckle up and hang on. They are a blast to drive!

'90-something Dodge 3/4 ton dually with some sort of turbo-diesel.
I properly cleaned and oiled the K&N filter but it made no difference.
May be the slowest vehicle I have ever driven, and I've had real Fiat 600's, Hillmans, and a Cushman mailster!

The slowest diesel I ever drove was a Mercedes. I got out and let the salesman drag race me. Not in a car, but just me. We were in the on ramp on the freeway (deserted guys) and I beat him to the end of the on ramp.

Audi has proven diesels can go, but I don't know what it takes. Everyone I've been in has been slow.

Well that doesn't describe the gun I want. .17 caliber with about the fastest bullet speed you can get. Very flat trajectory, very accurate and due to the velocity it has the stopping power of a 9 mm at whatever distance it is they measure these things at.

Coyote & bobcat plinking out the back door. I'll leave the Puma's alone (we have 2). My neighbor got a trail cam picture of both of them this last week. The Pumas keep the wolves away.

I don't like that I have to get a license for it.

No "License" required, it is an excise tax and is only paid once like tires.
Heirs inherit tax free.
$200 NFA tax and wait for Fed. approval.
If you can pass a Brady Check you will pass the NFA check.
Your information is already going into the data-base any time you buy a new gun, this is just slower.
I've done a lot of 9mm and .45 suppressed carbines, they work very well.
Current fad is 300-BLK but I'm not a big fan due to expense.

I was put off by the PR avalanche over the ".300 AAC Blackout", and SSK's policy of suing anyone who use the name ".300 Whisper" and the umpteen variants of .30/223 going back to the early 1960s, some of which weren't safe to interchange, sort of made AAC the winners by default.

Back years ago SSK had a bunch of ballistic data for the .300 Whisper on their web page; with the preferred 250 grain, 1050fps load, the downrange energy was impressive. But everyone seems to want to load them up as some kind of short .30-30 now, which sort of defeats the whole purpose... if you're going with a supersonic cartridge, there are lots better choices than the Blackout.

I wavered between the Whisper and Blackout for a long time, then said "whatever" and went with .50 Beowulf...

.50AE can be loaded subsonic.
I've done a few of my designs in .50AE and their performance excellent even at 1000 FPS.

I keep thinking it would be fun to load up some heavy subsonic 7.62x39 rounds for a suppressed SKS, unfortunately us Canadians would all turn into Hollywood hitmen if we had access to suppressors, so the government wisely made them completely illegal in our supposedly free country. We can still have some cool toys though, and even get some stuff you Americans don't. I just got a new Norinco 1911 for $310, brand new and shipped to my door. I just got some goodies from Brownells in the mail too, so I better turn it into an IPSC classic gun while we're still allowed to have handguns here. Makes me wish I had a bunker, and that we didn't have to register our handguns here.

Enjoy 'em while you can! If our "illustrious leader" gets his way, all handguns and all "assault rifles" (which they now define as any center-fire semi auto with a removable magazine) will be completely banned, Canada-wide, in a couple of months. He's even tasked his new 'anti-terrorism' minister (the infamous, gun-hating Bill Blair) with the job of figuring out how to arrange the bans...

Of course, the fact that none of this will affect the gangs, drug dealers, and terrorists hasn't occurred to him. He just wants us licensed firearm owners disarmed...
