Ok, so like many of you I have been searching for a cheap and effective reverse solution, as well as an overdrive, for my BEC.

Well today I noticed that the K1200 appears to have a sealed gearbox, separate from the engine, and the LT models come with reverse. So I was thinking that it may not be unreasonable to use one of these inline between the gearbox and differential.

Because the output shaft is clockwise rotation, I believe one could flip it around and have 6 overdrive gears (obviously 1st would be absurdly low), and still have reverse.

Does anyone have any experience with these boxes? Am I wrong about them being sealed? More importantly for those of us building a middy, does anyone have a length measurement from input to output shaft?

Or you could flip your differential instead.

To have one unusable forward gear and 6 reverse gears?

Interesting strategy...
