ebay score arrived today. A set of 4 Goodyear Eagle Spec Racer Ford tires. Last year's tires that have been collecting dust since the team changed to Hoosier.

Also got a notice from Basset that my wheels will ship today.

I need to get the SR20 car drivable for our next Solo event coming up August 13th. I talked to the tech guy and they'll let me run it in Paul's Scrap Metal mode (no body) as long as I have a firewall and the tunnel covered.

Looks like some evening garage sessions coming up on both cars.

Wheels arrived yesterday, new chain arrived, cable kit is on the way.
I'll keep collecting parts while I work on the SR20.

It's for winners buddy. I normally check with my competitors in the same class if there are any. Mod cars a quite a small group though so typically you get to know all the guy who regularly show up. Most are happy to have some competition and someone to borrow parts from when things break.

What size and width wheels did you go with. I am torn between rebuilding my chassis to maximize EMod rules and going all out for an AMod car.

I got 13x6 front and 13x7 rear wheels for the A Mod project. Talking with Lee at USDRRT these wheels will let me run up to 8's on the front and 9's on the back or he occasionally gets cantilever sidewall 10's.

The SR20 7 has big wide 15's on it. I don't remember what size. They're ultra soft DOT approved radials. Those won't get replaced with similar rubber when they wear out. I'll probably offer them up to the Miata guys at our event in 2 weeks (after a couple of runs of course  ) and go to slicks for the last 3 events.

John Burget (JB Racing) is an excellent resource for slick tires. He does have a habit of charging you a little more then you expect and always tells you the tires are 100% when they are not (but they are good rubber with no flat spots). However other than that they are superb value when racing on a modest budget, and he seems to be able to get almost any tire and knows his stuff.

I talked to them and got a pair of 10's for the F500 last year. Good folks.
Lee describes his tires a little better than the folks at JB. He also lets me swing by and pick up if I'm passing through the area. Since Baby Girl moved to Chicago, I drive within 2 miles of his place pretty dang often.

I'm thinking seriously about clicking buy it now on these and asking him to set them aside until I pass by again in a month or so.

May as well at that price. It certainly brings the cost per run down.

No kidding. That is really cheap. Now I know where to buy slicks when I get to that point.

So I've spoken with Basset Wheel and Speedway Motors and kinda pissed at both

Basset can't make the 13x6 5 on 4.5 in the Inertia series. Something to do with fixturing, but they can't mill or bunch the holes to turn them into 5 spoke rims. Also, they can't or won't make the 13x7's in solid center. So I can't get matched wheels from Basset.

Speedway will take back the solid center wheels and cover shipping, but if I want to return the inertia wheels, the shipping is on me.

Neither company seems to have a grasp on what customer service means.

You have a dremmel right? It looks like it time to mill some holes.
I would actually just go with the wider wheels. It is nice to have a square set up as you can switch the tires front to rear and get more even tire wear. A lot of cars wear the rear insides and the front outsides so switching them front to rear events things up.

I have to change hubs to be able to go with a square setup. The car has 5 on 4.5 up front and 5x100 on the rear. I've been looking at hubs on line and having a tough time getting 5x100. Will keep searching.

Right now I'm waiting for a Chevy Corsica hub to show up to see if it will fit my front spindles. It's a lot heavier than the aluminum hub on there right now

That sucks, 5 x 4.5 is a more desirable size for wheels not sure if you can change the 5x100.

Certainly not a locost option but for an engine http://www.hooperraceengines.com/race_engines do very nice snowmobile engines that would be perfect for that car. A cheaper option would be one of the F500 engines most owners have a couple laying around so should be a cheap option, while not as powerful, 100hp in a 800lbs car should still be crazy fast.

I was thinking along the F500 power last year. I had the little yellow car and it was lightning quick. The setup gets a little complicated with output via cvt to a jackshaft, then belt or chain from jackshaft to final drive. In this setup I'd have a tough time with packaging. The Zuki motor fits nicely and I'll have my hands full. Most of our courses are short and tight, so I doubt I'll get out of third gear, maybe not out of second on some of them.

There's a drag strip close by that says I can bring it out to play on a test and tune Saturday.

Basset wheels some years ago was good but now a days they suck !
last year i bought a set of 15"'s X 12" for a customers car . they told me they were in stock but after waiting more then two weeks and still no tracking for shipping i called them and found out they had to make them up ( not in stock ) . they finely got them to me after 4 weeks of waiting and when i got them they didn't drill the holes for the valve stems .
i have now been using Circle wheels i have ordered 10 rims total so far they are good quality . the shipping was 4 to 5 days for me to get them from there dealer .
