Due to the widely different electrode potential (volts) between the 2 different metals, I would make the change to Aluminum. There is nothing wrong with using antifreeze to increase the boiling point. and HOAT antifreeze's are good stuff. All antifreezes also reduce the cooing capacity of the coolant compared to raw water (with "water wetter"). Just don't let it freeze. |

Thank you Perry and Chuck, I was thinking the OAT coolant would work for me and then remembered a number of local tracks require the use of water and not coolant. A little coolant on the track can be a very bad thing. Then it occurred to me that I could use the radiator from my locost, and buy a new bigger one for that car. The Honda radiator is just too big. I will use the OAT coolant to get the car running, while I look for an alumunim radiator. Right now, I just want to hear it run. |

Holy Crap! Just started my little formula car for the first time. What a little monster! I am still shaking. (It may need a muffler and spark suppressor). I will keep you in the loop and add photos soon. JEB |

I started the CBR 600 in my little A Mod a could of weeks ago, not too loud at idle. Blip the throttle and it's deafening in my garage. I downloaded a sound meter app to my phone and it's about 105Db at 5000 rpm at 3 feet. Time for some slip in baffles. |

My car had an open header, so it was loud at idle, and omg when i blipped it. Turned it off and dogs barking all over the neiborhood. I am mounting the muffler now. |

Ok, have a number of systems completed and working, these are the components requiring some problem solving. Oil lines and cooler Radiator and lines Exhaust system Fuel system Wiring system ECU, engine is running great and is not showing any codes. I have even had a chance to prep and paint the body. What is left to re-install include the steering, braking, and the final drive. I will using the the same systems with updated parts. There is not a lot to figure out in these next stages. All I need is time... Getting there, should be on the track in a month or so. JEB Tiny screen, big thumbs |

That looks nice. Right now on mine I don't have the battery master switch installed. It isn't required for Solo, but it's a good practice. I've just been rushing around like a madman trying to get it together in time for this weekend in between work trips. |

Hello group, Back to my car season. The plan of getting my car "out on the track in a month or so," has not gone as planned. Got a driveline issue. Engine runs great. The shifter and clutch seem to work well. No noise in neutral. When I put it in gear and let out the clutch a clunking starts. It sounds like it is Deep in the bottom end of the engine. At first I thought I threw a rod, then I realized it was only happening in gear with the clutch out. Any thoughts what this could be? Did I break something while swapping out the drive sprocket? JEB The M/C transmission has a dog style gear engagement. It is always going to a LOT more clearance in the drive system. Most M/C trannies make a fair amount of gear lash noise. That why you see a rubber drive hub on the rear wheel. With out the hub, it is going amplify the condition. Davew |
