hey guys, been lurking on here for awhile, its been a dream of mine for several years to build my own car from scratch and i'm almost to the point where i can start on it. first things first, i'll be designing the tube frame in solidworks and then hopefully just send the tube files out to get coped/bent. the goal is to design/build as much of the entire car as i can. i recently learned cad design, CNC programming and machining with this project in mind and have access to my buddy's machine shop to do most of the machining in.

general idea is to use a 2015+ S1000RR drivetrain as it has clutchless up and down shift from the factory, along with cruise control. engine will be mounted longitudaly with a custom sprocket to driveshaft adapter into a rear diff (yet to decide which one i'll use)

i used my buddy's 3d laser scanner to get a nice solid model of the engine to use in my frame design.
here are a few pics.
the frame is just a first rough draft without any real dimensions as i didnt have the engine scanned yet when i started it.

looking forward to sharing my build with you guys, and to any and all constructive comments/criticism.
note: this build will most likely take awhile since its just a weekend/after hrs kinda thing and my job takes up most of my time.

i've owned 4 of those bikes so far, and love them to death! had a turbo kit on one of them, made 300whp on a bone stock motor without a hiccup. these things are VERY stout!

How fast do you have to be going to put 300 HP to the ground?

with stock wheelbase its damn near impossible to keep it down below 100mph. i'm actually doing a turbo kit on 1 of the bikes right now for drag racing and top speed stuff, this time i'm gonna stretch it over.

a few pics of some stuff i've done before. im technically a welder by trade but i've dabbled in a little bit of just about anything. the billet parts were all designed, programmed and machined by me.
welds are some chromemoly stuff i welded at work.

Your welds are much nicer looking than mine for sure! Where are you located? I am using a slightly older version of the same motor in a build.

Ah, too bad we are on opposite sides of the country.
the current build, progressing very slowly due to work and a family disaster, can be found at http://www.locostusa.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=15956&hilit=duxbury+sequel. I hope to be back to it in a few months. The last thing I did was weld up the motor mounts. Next is upright fabrication.
My original build, now done for a few years and with several thousand miles on it is at http://www.locostusa.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=13111&hilit=duxbury+hodgepodge
If you dont mind, I would love a copy of your engine CAD model. I am on SW 2012, but can do IGES or STEP.

I know this is an old post but did you ever get the CAD file from Mpower? I would absolutely love one and it would be a lifesaver for my project!
