Hello all. New here and just doing some early thinking. I would love to have a small car with a harley engine in it. Ive given this a little thought and was thinking that perhaps this could be done with a mazda miata? The morgan 3 uses the miata tranny and seems to have their own design coupling to the tranny from the motor. Would it be doable to purchase this coupler from morgan to adapt to use on s miata? Do tou all have more food for thought for me in terms of whats been done and how?? Thanks alot. Russ |

As I recall Harley's have somewhat weak cases for that type of load. Chain drive to the rear might handle that but it's a long way to go. |

The Morgan uses an S&S engine, and the Morgan design originated with Pete Larsen's Liberty Ace in Seattle, so the bellhousing adapter is probably manufactured by S&S, anyway - I'd talk to those guys in the first instance, before trying to import from the UK (although Morgan may now have exclusive licence to the components). I'd have thought that the Hardly Dangerous motor would struggle pulling something as heavy as a Miata, though; it's comparable in power to the original 1.6 litre Miata, and we all know how limp the performance was on those. |

Do a middle and then you only have to run a short chain & jack shaft. |

Or, forward mounted engine and front wheel drive. Works for three or four wheels. If you are resorting to a jack-shaft all sorts of things become possible. |

I was thinking engine in it's normal orientation and behind the axle centerline. Not sure how they come out for length but should be fairly short. Is there a water cooled version? |

I'm pretty sure the vrods are/were liquid cooled. They didn't do very well with the faithfull do to that, not sure if they even still make them. Kristian |

OK all, so question for you. I am a reasonably accomplished weekend mechanic, former mechanical engineer, however, I have never welded, or undertaken a project such as I propose. Is this doable for a stubborn guy with the above experience? Thanks. |
