In ZIG's Build log, Too Busy posted this:
"Going with gas lets you move to smaller diameter wire. I keep .018, .023, and .030 wire on hand in the garage pretty much all the time."

My question is who makes the .018 wire? Google wasn't being 'my friend' when I searched.

I get 018 at my local welding supply shop - Roberts oxygen. That's my go to for consumables, mig and tig gas and wire.

I normally give them a couple of days notice.
Last time in they had it several 2lb spools on the shelf

A stick welder doesn't get much respect, but one will weld darned near anything. If you have a simpatico welding supply house, you can buy single rods in specific alloys for carbon or moly steel, for welding cast iron, for welding bronze, or even for welding copper.

There are also "gouging" rods, used for cutting, and special fluxed rods for burning out broken bolts, hard rods for laying Stellite on wear surfaces and cutting tools... all sorts of stuff.

Just be aware that the arc gouging beats the living sh*t out of your machine!
