oops :( day late, Tom.
I should have mentioned if you are making your slapper(s) and covering the slapper it with leather, you need to soak the leather in water for 10 to 15 minutes. Then install the leather strip. When the leather dries, the leather will be really nice and tight.
Here my collection.

Nice - i have to make mine look better!

I have metal slappers from TinManTech. they need a little polish and larger radii on corners but are a really nice tool otherwise.
I have both the flat and 1/2 round --> use them both a lot

ProShaper has a video on making slappers from office chair parts --> on my to do list

Also Tom, i am flattered that you like my build! Unfortunately, I have been sidetracked for the past 6 months. A lifelong friend and i invented, patented and now manufacture and sell hand guards for mountain bikes. They are pretty cool. Went on sale this week

Dave, thanks for the additional tip. I was wondering if wetting the leather would help, but hadn't read anything about doing that. So now the flappers are dis-assembled, sealer has been put on the wood and the leather is soaking.

Good looking product, Sean. Congrats on getting it to market.
Now you can go back to shaping that body. :D

Thanks, MV8. Sometimes making the tools is the best part of the build.
