A monocoque is lighter stiffer, but not as user (repair) friendly, after a while the tubs loosen up and need re-riveting, but when new they have advantages.

In the picture of the cheetah they got lines of rivets down the side tubes. do they contain bulkheads or what are they for?

bulkheads to form up the box sections. THat cheetah is a very competitive chassis, just a click behind the latest stohr. The stohr is a tube frame with some sort of carbon and honeycomb panel riveted to it.
