What does a body like this go for? Looking at a one/off for my mid and maybe this is a way I could go?
Randy.

the body came from these guys, its designed for a Van Dieman FC single seater
http://www.hurleyracingproducts.com/cus ... llery.html

It was designed by Clark Lincoln who hangs out here: http://dsrforum.yuku.com/

It would normally retail around 5 thousand, I got it for lesss than half retail because it was part of an abandoned DSR conversion and already cut up.

It worked for me because at retail cost It would not happen and being cut up was OK for me as Modifications are necessary to fit on My 2 seater Crossle 42/47S

Building your own body is a big project, see Airframe fixer!

Clark Lincoln also would estimate it at about 1500 Hours! begin to finish plus mucho bucks in materials.

Clark is a retired GM Designer and knows how to make things look good, Other people not so much.

here is the body on a single seater Van Dieman

Thanks! That is what I thought it would be. So back to building the plug. I work in the boat biz so it will be more labor than anything.
Keep up the good work and photos.
Randy

Fantastic! I am trying to figure out how to build one these locost style myself. Airframefixer's build is an inspiration as well. At the same time, I would like to get close to minimum weight.
So far, near as I am able to tell, lightness costs money unless you are talking about just leaving something out.
Keep up the good work.
Paul

Added a little white pigment to the Epoxy, 2 layers with 9.6 oz cloth over 1/8" Aircraft ply.
Just a few leftover scars to fill in and then fill the weave of the cloth. And lots of sanding.

finished the glass for the cockpit cover, now filing the weave with micro and epoxy and sanding, some lightweight filler to smooth the bumps. Have to work in the latches from the old body with move outboards about a foot.

Looking A little different all the time!, filling the glass weave with Micro and epoxy, and sanding, how I hate sanding, getting smoother, will probably do a layer of slick sand on the fresh glass work. Stop there finish up some under structure and body mounts. Changed the pics added a tape line to bring out the swoopy body countours in the photos

Hopefully Ill get it to be one color pretty soon, the splotchy filler requires alot of imagination.

I know what you mean! I found that to do a decent job of sanding the body panels on my car, I had to shoot a coat of rattle-can primer on them, just so I could see if they were smooth or not. Sometimes, I'd have to reprime 'em after I'd sanded, again just so's I could see them!...
