Hmm, I see Spridget BEC"s, why not Spitfire?

Wondering why no love for early Spitfire BEC conversion?
Seem easier to find than the Sprite/Midget, much better engine and front suspension access with similar weight.
Separate chassis is easier to modify.
Surely the rear suspension is not the issue for this group?

There's a Spitfire on BAT right now.

I'm thinking of less than $500.00 early cars that have not been crashed.
Surprisingly easy to find, rust free a bit harder.
Original engine was only a 1300 with around 50HP.
I'm going to see if a pair I knew of last year are still available.

Looking to find a fairly low price bike engine with right side chain drive since the FJR1300 I favor would require trickery with the diff.
I think right side output will have advantages for engine off-set and clearing the steering shaft.

I know a mere 120+ HP and lowly 8K - 9K RPM will not be the Cobra Killing death trap many want to build but at twice the original HP and RPM it should be plenty entertaining.

But it also has the disadvantage of requiring a pinion-on-the-left differential. Plus the difficulty of finding a suitable* bike with a right drive sprocket.

*big bore, multi cylinder, liquid cooled

I plan to visit some MC mechanics looking for junk engine cores so that I may better experiment.

If going IRS I think I now have a reliable center section that can be configured to run either direction WITH correctly cut gears.
Need to grab some more parts to confirm that.

I am in parts gathering of just such an endeavor.

Miata suspension (yeah, going to cut fenders and flare a lot), this also solves the diff.

Looking at an R1 for motive power.

Funny part, really getting started on it is waiting for my bugeye sprite resto to move under its own power.
