I've been thinking over some design issues that will be coming up soon on my project. I think control cables are worthy of thier own section. When you transplant a front engine and transaxle to the rear of a car, a lot of cables need re-routing. In the case of a neon engine cables control the throttle, clutch, shifter, and possibly the speedo.

I am going to start digging for custom cable parts to make my own cables, as well as places that can custom build cables to order.

Please chime in with links, experience and ideas!

Many cars use hydraulic clutches, so that's not an issue. Also, most speedos these days are driving from the ECU, which counts pulses in the tranny to calculate speed. For me to integrate the Honda engine required two push-pull cables for the shifter, and one for the gas.

It's all in my <cough>book <cough>

The neon engine that I would like to use has a cable operated clutch, so that is something I will be designing around. Thanks for the link.
