How about the VW W8?? 4.2l V8 and over 500hp in Audi clothing. It would make a nice lump for a pseudo GT40

the W8's were odd engines, not sure there's much aftermarket.
the audi V8's are another story. theres some crazy things being done with them. in fact I got a 4.2 sitting in my garage right now, still haven't decided what to do with it.

Who needs aftermarket?? A lot of the VW and Audi trimmings are universal. You can chip the W8 using the Wetterauer program and the numbers were astounding!!

Besides... where have you ever seen a "V8" take up the same room as a 4 pot?? If this engine doesn't scream "Locost with too much power", I don't know what would!! It would be fun in the back of a GT0-ish type car! Hell.. might even be able to use the 4 motion and make it an AWD GT40-ish car!!!

Happy Drooling and sweet dreams!!

KS

p.s. and Violentblue... when you are done staring at that V8 and want the space back.. I'll happily drive up and take it off your hands and give you back all that "wasted" garage space!!!

I have a friend that has gt40 molds that were pulled from an original car. He does make them to sell. They are not cheap. They are complicated to lay up and there are a lot of pieces. I've always thought that a roadster version would be much easier to put together and I think that it would look good. But, there is no denying that the coupe is drop dead gorgeous.

Do you have any idea what he wants for a complete body kit. Most the guys who sell bodies are in England. There are a few manufacturers here but they wont sell a body separately. Really any info would be nice.

Yes, something like that!

My friend is Bill Hough. He is in Norwell, MA. 781-659-1404, datonabill@msn.com. (datona is not misspelled)
He has molds for the MK1 and MK2 as well as a Lola T-70 MK3B coupe.
He created from scratch Factory Fives Daytona Coupe body.

He is a one man show and works from his home.

A Lola body is 7k. The Gt40 is 6.7K. His bodies are hand laid and light.

I have been involved with these car for a while. viewtopic.php?f=33&t=16644

Firstly I would say that its not going to be cheap no matter which way you build it, secondly if its not built to a reasonably "authentic" standard it just wont sell . If you just want the shape and are not fussed about a return on your time and money build it how you like but its a lot of work no matter which way you go. I have done a lot of work on the transaxles on these with mods to a G50 and although a budget job it stills runs into more cash than most cars cost to build, bottom of this page viewtopic.php?f=18&t=3293&p=188386&hilit=
Engines to suit are the same story.
