Hey Tim Taylor, I know Quincy! I have a good friend in Miccosukee and you probably know him too--Dave Rogers. He's a PPG pilot, and an all around good guy in my book. And of course I dig Sun'N'Fun, my first one was 1978. But man, I can't stand the heat, and like they say: if you can't stand the heat, get out of the oven. By April I've about had it with the heat and humidity. Our Oregon winters are pretty loathsome, but at least when it's too cold I can put on more clothes, whereas when it's too hot there's a practical limit to what I can divest.

True, and it's a tight knit little community, thanks to the internet. The rare bad apple gets booed off the stage.

Jack,
I used to own a private investigation agency and I would bet the heavy stuff stolen was to make you believe it was a regular burglary. I also would bet they were there to collect the phones that were bugged.
A lot of those business type phones have snap together handsets and they superglue them back together when they bug them.
Number one reason for glueing them is to ensure no-one takes them apart very easyly to find their bugs. Then they just come one night and steal the whole darn rack of phones to recover their bugs. This often leaves folks wondering why and the hell would someone steal those old darn phones. It's because they were cleaning up their tracks. Yes, I do believe you have been listened to is why your office phones have disapeered. I think you may be dealing with some heavyweights here and don't always expect it to be the obvious ones doing this.

P.S. Hell, they are most probably reading this now just as you open it up yourself.

Mark.

If that presented itself I'm sure Homeland Defense could get rather upset. ........... unless it was them to begin with.
I wouldn't be surprised though.

Jack, I'm sorry that you're having to go through all this B-ad S-tuff. These kinds of distractions keep you from doing the things that you enjoy, or that earn you a living. If Kinetic is to relocate, there are lots of people here on the forum (myself included) who would like to entice you to move near to them. With the friends that you have here, I'm sure someone can help you find the perfect location. What are your needs and wants? Big city or rural? Mountains, desert, or sea shore? You've already mentioned that you don't care for hot & humid weather. Can I assume you need an airstrip nearby? Maybe your own? What size shop do you need? 3-phase power? What "quality of life" issues are important to you? Do you bird watch? Fish? Hunt? Let us know what you would like, and there will be a lot of eyes out there scouring the countryside for you.

See there, Jack, you gots friends in the area already! Now, about that heat... Come for a visit, and we can go to Appalachicola and worship at the Temple that is called "The John Gorrie Museum". He invented Air Conditioning!

And while we're there, there's several spots where one can indulge in fresh, local oysters and (if you're so inclined) have an "adult beverage".

Come on down!

Not entirely joking, Jack, I understand your concern with the weather, but I think your business would do well here. I'm on your side, no matter where you move...

And if you're at all interested in the Phoenix Metro area, give me a jingle. I'll put you and yours up in my spare house out back and loan you a vehicle to drive around in to visit the seven nearby municipal and private airports. Of course you'd have to WANT to suffer through our 4 months of Hell weather to have the 8 months of heavenly weather.

Wow, talk about a surprise! I would have been less surprised by a bullet in the back, or a Molotov cocktail through the window.

My FOIA request for evidence re the lighting issue (our rotating beacon was out for about half of last December, or Airports Manager said it was only two nights and he'd posted NOTAMs for those...I got an FOIA record of NOTAMs at 3S4 [our airport] and statements from credible witnesses...short form is it was proof of his deception on a significant safety issue, and since the FAA pays us about $400 a day to [among other things] keep the lights on it's a Federal fraud issue and provable by Federal records) came through to me, and I wasn't scared off by the burglary (in brief, I don't meet the "wise" qualification re "a word to the wise is sufficient") so yesterday I left a message for the Commissioner who's his direct superior, offering to drop off the evidence and...

This just in from Grants Pass Oregon's The Daily Courier:

>>>
Longtime Josephine County Airport Manager Alex Grossi has given his employer two weeks' notice and advised that he may sue for damages he says were caused by Commissioner Sandi Cassanelli.

Grossi's attorney, Mark Lansing, has sent the county a tort claim notice. In the notice, he charges that his client has suffered because of Cassanelli's "slanders and libels." [more]
>>>

If you go on their site quick, you can read it on Front Page News, the link is http://www.thedailycourier.com

To read the whole story you have to cough up $.99, but in brief Alex is seeking $7,500 and legal costs, and it isn't about money, it's about making a point. He'll have to pick and choose wisely if he wants to find something untrue in Commissioner Cassanelli's statements. I suspect she'll have plenty of contributors to her legal defense fund. She's the first woman Commissioner we've elected since I came here, she's a complete failure at fitting in with the Good Ol' Boys, and she's the first commissioner with the balls to say, "Wait a minute, that's not true!" Other than that, she seems relatively innocent for a politician.

The video link is http://web.thedailycourier.com/video/vi ... 911Lawsuit

To further quote his attorney:

>>>
"Cassanelli on numerous occasions has accused my client of lying, making false statements and defrauding the government," Lansing wrote in the tort claim notice.
>>>

Yes, Mr. Lansing, and your point is?

>>>
Lansing's letter asserts, "A public official should not accuse a county employee of falsifying information and defrauding people without (at minimum) sound evidentiary support for such a thing.
>>>

If it comes to court, I'll bring in my own sound evidentiary support--it's printed out in black and white--but I'll need some help to bring it all, because my doctor said not to lift anything heavy.*

So I guess we'll see, but the climate here may be improving dramatically for Kinetic, both Kinetic Aerospace and Kinetic Vehicles. It was a close one; I was about ready to throw in the towel--today I was transporting jet engines from Josephine County to our new location when the phone call came in from a Courier reader.

*Which is my excuse when people tease me about sitting down when I pee--Sorry, doctor's orders.

An employee is called to the carpet by their supervisor for questions regarding their performance and thats grounds for a lawsuit. Riiiiiiiigght. .. Work is a smoke screen, where's the money coming/going?
Small airport in a very lightly populated coastal community with good highway access.
I'm just saying, if I was of the mind to do something of the nature, based on cash crops in your area that would be rather attractive.

Do you have independently verifiable records that you can forward on to the paper about other deficiencies of performance during his tenure?
Ok thats being snarky but, as the song says, "Don't do the crime if you can't pay the time".
Good ole boys networks are a classic example of how power corrupts and an uninformed constituency is ruled over not supervised. .. usually to their detriment.
You're not a county official, and any newspaper with the budget to dig would be able to find any data you have elsewhere, you'd just be saving them some time and effort to provide something locally newsworthy.
Since you've already accepted the fact of moving, theres not much that can be done to make you leave any faster.

Give 'em Hell Jack!

Good luck with it. We'll keep the light on for ya at Quincy, just in case... But hopefully you won't need it.

Oh, and whole "sitting down to pee" thing... Definately TMI.

I believe we have more exports than imports. My partner, Jacky, went to our local organic gardening supply (a thriving business here, and a serious growth industry now that we have medical marijuana) about growing tomatoes in a raised planter, and the highly knowledgeable salesman was all nudge-nudge-wink-wink-finger-quotes-in-the-air about how this nutrient and that nutrient would help her "tomatoes" thrive and how the resin output in "tomatoes" is dependent on pH of the soil and I don't think she ever convinced him she wanted to grow tomatoes.

Boy do I, but the local newspaper is on a severe anti-Cassanelli pro-GOB kick.

Man, the phone calls are pouring in from folks who want me to stay, and the Locost biz is part of the reason. Here's this from the web-based local independent news org:
http://www.ivdailyview.com/2011/04/28/k ... v-economy/

PS--gyrofli, please give me a ring. I left my cell # in a PM.
PPS--Gonzoracer, re... > Oh, and whole "sitting down to pee" thing... Definately TMI. ...it was shortly after my dang-near-crippling test flying accident of 1984 and my doctor told me that attempting to balance myself standing up while...multitasking...was a bad idea. I came up with that joke at the spur of the moment (a moment which would indeed be TMI so I'll spare you) and it's one of my few witticisms that has become part of our general culture. Yes, I'm very proud.
