I just tried to place an order by phone with Summitt and once I gave my billing address the lady said, "Oh, I'm very sorry but we no longer ship to Canada."

Rats .... double rats.

(Edit: but I just called Speedway and they were happy to sell to me: they even transferred me to their 'Canada desk')

Hmmm, that's strange, Warren. I have my SuperTrapp in transit from Summit, scheduled for today's delivery. I was surprised how reasonable the shipping was, and there appeared to be no brokerage for the tax collected. However, I did it all online. They do offer a shipping estimate button, before you have to complete the checkout.

Could have been just the phone agent. I generally order by telephone.

After buying from the "big 3" (Jegs, Summit, Speedway) for years, one thing I've noticed is that summit has some really whacky rules. They won't export certain items, and others they won't even sell to certain states.

They have two different sets of SBC "street fire" spark plug wires (I have the part number written down somewhere..) That they will not sell to Connecticut. But.. if I put the address in for my buddies house right across the border in mass, there is no issue whatsoever.

I wonder if it was just the particular item that you were purchasing, or a naïve phone agent.

I'm thinking they wouldn't ship the specific item you were ordering across the border or the agent you talked to was new.

I will blame it on the agent: I was ordering a couple of shock absorber bump stops. Don't tell me that THAT is controlled technology, especially when Speedway supplied them from their 'garage sale' items.
