Tom i do remember the call, enjoyed the conversation. J. Meyers said he talked to you also. Did you know John bought a DP2 from Palatov in Portland.

Gale, I still have my notes from my chats with you and John  When John's car put his car up for sale I was very tempted, but the "build from scratch" bug had bit by then. I didn't know he bought one of Dennis' cars, I bet he's fast in that DP2.

I'll likely be PM'ing you with LS fit-up questions as I get my build underway. You've put together a reat neat package.

John's new car will have an LS7 In it so it will likely be a 200 mph car. His Stalker ran over 170 before it hit red line and an LS7 will give him way more torque than his Stalker plus he will set up ratios for a higher top speed.
John is a fearless competitor and will push it to it's limit once he gets it sorted.

It will take %60 more power to go 200 then 170. A locost with Jack's Lalo bodywork only needs 250Hp to go over 170, but would still need over 400 to go 200. The problem with getting a brick to go 200 is there may or may not be any rear wheel traction left ( or front wheel for that matter ). If he really wants to go that fast I think doing your homework is more important then being fearless. Maybe he is well aware of that and will approach this carefully.

I posted a youtube video a while ago from someone who runs an A10 drop tank on wheels with an engine my friend built. You can see it get sideways for a bit at at around 260-280 on the salt flats. More then a little scary.

Aerodynamics has a lot to do with it at 200mph and I don’t think the DP2 has a body yet so I am sure there will be some development time involved in getting it to its potential.
John used a wing and full aero on the Stalker to keep it on the ground. With the wing and the (giant suck 7) body it still did pretty well on the track.
They claim a C6 ZO6 will do 198mph with the same engine and it weighs a ¾ ton more than a DP2 so if Palatov gets the aero right he may make it to 200 mph.
It would be fun to watch.
John seems like a careful smart guy but he still drives 170mph.... wheel to wheel.... in a home made car..... over a hill into a blind corner with a few other insane people. :?: VIR

As I recall my conversation with Dennis Brunton, he hit 153 at Mid-Ohio in a 3.8 powered Stalker. Perhaps it had more in it, but the trans blew before Dennis could make another try at it.
