Good morning - and thanks in advance for the info. I'm researching building a & replica and am wondering if just frames available to purchase? I don't feel like dealing with all of the fabrication, but would like to do the rest of the build up. I've rebuilt several old cars (Triumphs to be specific) and am comfortable with suspension / drive train / engine / cooling etc...

Any tips or leads for me?

Thanks!

Welcome to the mad house. There is a guy that sells frames on ebay for around $1250. I have heard they are really nice. No "A" arms though. Where are you located? Russ

Hi Russ - thanks for the response and welcome. I'm in SoCal.

That ballpark price sounds attractive. Let me hit eBay and see what I can find.

Are there specific A-arm issues I should be aware of? Total newbie here as to building one of these, but I do know my cars reasonably well. ( I think/hope anyway, LOL).

Thanks!

the ebay frames are bare without any tabs, or mounting of any sorts. Kenetics on here, forget their website sells all the tabs, arms and whatever else you could want. you're going to have to do some welding, no way around it.

A-arms are designed for the donor spindles. Miata and S-10 are the most popular. Go to Jack McCornmac's Kinetic Vehicles site and he shows you how to build them using his cool PVC pipe setup. Russ

Building the frame is the easiest part of the build and IMHO having one made for you doesn't really give you a huge headstart. Working out the engine, electrics, cooling, braking, steering, suspension systems is the hard part. As was already mentioned you will need to weld any way you do it and making a frame is a good way to practice. You don't want the first thing you ever weld to be an A arm, rollbar, or something that steers the car.
