has anyone come across some decent looking front turn signals that are dual filament? I'd like to run my front signals as amber running lights as well as the brighter flashing turn indicator.

All the motorcycle signals I've found are single filament, off or on.

Any ideas short of rewiring a set from scratch (no pun intended)

I'll check the lighting book at work today and find out if there is something available through Napa.

I think if you check out the newer bike lights that you will find most of the street motorcycle have 2 filaments. I'm using Honda M/C turn signals on my seven and they are wired on the 2nd lower amp side filament as running lights.

I would suggest you look up in the yellow pages for a bike salvage yard, should be able to pick up a a good looking set at a reasonable price.

I agree with davew ^. I got turn signal stalks from a mid-'80's Yamaha, and they're dual-filament. They're also chrome-plated stalks (bling!). I tested them with 12V, and they'll work fine. No rewiring required.

I believe almost all of the Japanese bikes had various models with dual-filament front and rear signals, so it's really a matter of digging around to find them at a M/C wrecker.

Thanks for the info. I'll swallow my pride and wander back in to "Bills Boneyard" I swore I'd never go back. He's got about 200 Japanese motorcycle carcasses rusting in his lot. He asks about triple what I think the parts are worth, but you do get to inspect and touch the parts before you buy.
- I haven't had much luck online. There are a zillion vendors for motorcycle turn signals, but 99+% don't specifically call out dual filament in the description. I'm not willing to gamble $25 and have them arrive with only one filament.

Sigh.

if the bulb has an 1157 bulb it is dual filament (20 plus yo first hand expirence). Given the passage of years who knows what has changed.

You could always browse at Bills and shop on E-bay...especially when you know what would work better, model years and styles.

You may also consider a box like this:

http://haywireinc.com/catalog/product_i ... 9t9m519js1

It takes a single filament light and lets you use it like a 2 filament. I can't speak to how well it works, or the company selling it, but seems easy enough.

That said I've found a bunch of 3 wire motorcycle lights on ebay that I don't think this is really needed.

I am going to give Haywire a try for my switches though.
