By nature of their ultra-low rise waist design, with a hood so low that the windshield becomes a windscreen, I think that's a problem that these types of cars will naturally have. That's a large part of the breadvan's awkwardness.

The Kokopelli has always looked a little 'off' to me. I believe that is from the Kokopelli body having been raised few inches, much like Jack did on the Lalo. While the Kokopelli looks to have lost more of it's low slung appearance than the Lalo, the accompanying mid-rise waist is again likely to help balance the proportions with a windshield...Especially with the breadvan top.

In principle, I like the breadvan idea. From some angles I like the original, from others not so much. However, I would think that some modifications (don't ask me what) could be made to the design to improve the aesthetics of it, while still keeping it sufficiently 'similar to' the pictured car for registration and titling purposes.

Graham Capel also built another coupe with the tail end looking more like the 250 GTO series 2 or the 250 LM:



I would think that with the front arches opened up a bit more it could be made to look quite pretty.

That looks pretty good to me--and might look even better on a slightly wider body.Yeah, I've seen photos, they look pretty...locost.This is a pretty one...or probably is a pretty one; that's the only photo I've seen of it and I'd sure like to see it with the trunk closed. If you have other photos of that car, please post them.

Currently I've too many projects and too little room. I need to take a project or two off my bucket list and put them on my rhymes-with-bucket list. Sigh. It's probably time for me to dispose of my Lalo, so I have the room (and capital) to build something new.

Well, thanks for the update, anyway, Jack. I'm sympathetic to your plight. I still have my Locost build to finish, but I already have two new projects in mind. Fortunately, they will take only a fraction of the commitment that the Locost requires.

Glad to hear that you're keeping busy. Reading between the lines, would this mean that you're generally speaking not expecting to do any further development on the Lalo bodywork?

I wouldn't say that. I'm a bit of a compulsive developer. In fact, my local fiberglass fab shop just this month finished the mold for the new improved Lalo scuttle--the first one is going out today to a builder, and I'm going to get the second one. That's why I'm not putting my car up for sale right now--I want to give it a new scuttle. My original prototype scuttle is just too...prototypee...to pass on to a new owner. But if I decide I want a breadvan body, making a new car is more appealing than modifying a perfectly good roadster.

like the little white car #1. The little flip up tail spoiler looks good. I wonder how it would look using an early RX7 rear window. Like a late model C3 corvette. There are some interesting differences in the front of the "bread van" car. I like the front (windshield forwards). The idea of the whole roof & rear tilting to get in & out seems rather novel.
