I think the carbon mismatch looks OK because they are not the same angles. Kind of throws an extra depth to it.

I have never sprayed clear. Is it difficult? Any brands or suggestions?

There's a paint shop near me that can do Sherwin Williams ATX or Dimension in a spray can for small jobs. It's a cool can in a can system. Pop the seal, shake shake shake and spray.

About $20/can but fantastic for small jobs.

Not having to clean my gun makes it worthwhile.

any thoughts on how to make the pin holes go away before trying to clear?

You can build the most awesome thing in the world but at some point, an 80yr old man in a crx is probably going kick your butt on the track... don't ask me how I know.

a little drop of epoxy, then block sand it off maybe.
maybe shoot some extra clear and see if it fills the pinhole.

I had enough epoxy on my boat that the pinholes went away during block sanding.

that could take a lot of time. I have seen that before and sometimes it takes like 10 coats before it clears up. If it was painted back i could just used some filler to make them go away.

If the pinholes are not that, but rather, fisheyes caused by contamination, you need to try to address the contamination before clear-coating lest the fisheyes reappear. Even if you are going to fill the holes you will need to get in there with an appropriate solvent and give sufficient time for evaporation as others have noted.

no they are pin holes. Once i started sanding yesterday i could actually see the pinhole between the carbon weave. I will try to get a pic tonight.

I bought some of this stuff to try. Pricey but if it works well worth it.

up date.

this stuff worked great! I did one test letting it sit overnight and one applying the clear right after i put it on This stuff filled the pin holes and disappeared as soon as i sprayed it. I tried to find the pin holes afterwards and could not. here is a shot showing all of the filled pin holes
