My machinist friend is convinced that Wilwood makes "show" brakes.

He uses a lot of bad words when I take him Wilwood parts to work on.

So making good looking brakes is a bad thing and this is based on... what?

Tom, I read sections of the book years ago. As I recall, he described three types of valves, constant percent reduction, pressure limiting and the type you describe. Wilwood describes their valve as giving up to 60% reduction of pressure. That's all. To me, that sounds like a constant reduction valve, the least desirable type. I suppose we will never know, unless some curious soul sets up a test rig, measuring input and out pit pressures across a wide range of pressure.
Bill, here's Tilton's explanation. It's consistent with Puhn's text:

Hmm, for some reason I can't copy/paste the url. but if you go to Tiltonracing.com, under the Technical tab, click on Installation Instructions, and under Brake Accessories you'll find a line item for Brake Proportioning Valve that will bring up a pdf.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Tom, I hope the Wilwood item is the that type.

I swapped the calipers yesterday and I think it's going to work out perfect. It feels a lot better and I could get the fronts to lock, pedal pressure it a little greater but it was pretty light to start with. The next track day will tell because multiple +100 mph stops and tough to re-create on the street. But I love the Nocost solution to the problem.,

Thanks for everyone's help
