I've been toying with the idea of building a little roadster after I get done with the Lotus. The locost/7 etal chassis could be the platform to build a really cute & fun little car (as you already know LOL) I started surfing the Bugatti pics on line. These are a couple I really liked & got me thinking (a dangerous proposition I know). I love working in wood & though "hey wouldn't it be cool to build a little roadster along these lines?". But with a wooden (Mahogany?) boat tail body & painted fenders. I have everything I'd need for engine/trans & suspension just laying around the garage. A Kent cross flow 1600 engine with twin webers & a corrugated exhaust out one side ala Hispanio Swisa. Would really be sweet & "in period" (the exhaust that is not the engine LOL) Retro super cars like the Delahay & later Bugottis are hot. So why not one of the smaller versions?

I particularly like the red & black one. But maybe with more tear drop shaped fenders?

Very cool wood bodied cars were quite fashionable in the 20s & 30s. Like their counterparts speed boats. Fine woods meant fine machinery & elegance. African Mahogany would look great on one. Maybe with some Maple for accents?

I used to build wooden kayaks, so this is a topic of personal interest. I love mixing wood and metal. This isn't a car, but has always been an inspiration:
