Here is a snip of the chassis with a straight line drawn over it. There is no break there (in the top rail). The lower rail has the break. However, the break is not evident in the side wall. What is done at that point there is the start of an ever-increasing radius from the side wall to the underside of the car up to the nose. At least that was my observation. And that is what I did on my Locost.

I'll post some screen shots of the chassis in 3d tomorrow morning when I'm back at my desk. It should give a bit more insight into the upper and lower chassis members.

Chuck,
The single break I'm referring to in the top rail is the transition point at the leading edge of the cockpit. No break, just a straight tube from the firewall to the trapezoid.

Here are some screen shots of the 3D model created from the S1 chassis drawing. The side panels aren't quite completed, but you can see the increasing radius that rx7 was talking about.
