Has anyone here as of recent ordered anything from Curtis limited? I have a neighbor that has a 62 Lotus 7 S2 and was told that Bert has passed and Fay is retiring. Can anyone confirm this? Thinking about ordering some body panels but I’m a few months out seeing I’m gathering drivetrain parts now.

Thanks in advance

J

I can confirm--DaddyJ speaks the truth! However, the Curtis collection of fiberglass body parts are still available, because I'm renting* the molds from Fay and you can get them direct from Kinetic now.

Man, I really have to update my web site.

*Another way of looking at it is I'm licensing them, but the bottom line is, I have some of her molds here (clamshell fenders, in standard and wide width) and pay her a fee per part to use them, and can get more molds from her if there are orders for more Lotus Seven (or other Lotus vintage racer) body parts.

Jack,
The "other Lotus molds" has me curious. Do you think you could get a list of what Fay has in terms of molds? I know she has Eleven S1, 19, 7 and I think 23 (and Lola Mk1), but any idea what else she may have?

Rod

Sad to hear of Bert's passing...

Rod--I think the had some of the different Elva bodies.

Daddy J--I have a complete Curtis 19 body, if you feel like building something different.

Jack--Sending you a PM shortly

Joe

Sounds interesting but I’m actually building a 7 S2 using the Locost building techniques just with a different blueprint.

Any idea how long PM's sit in the "Outbox", before they become "Sent"?

Joe

They are really "sent". They just show in your outbox until the recipient actually reads it. Then it is removed from your outbox and shows up in the "sent" folder. This gives the sender a confirmation of when it is read.

If possible, could you include some dimensions for the clamshells when you post about them. I'm not sure how wide the "wide" one would be, but I'd like to see if they'd work on my build (Haynes/Gibbs basis).

Cheers,

Sorry to hear of Berts passing, he made the most beautiful brazed tube chassis I've ever seen. He showed me his home made fluxer and encouraged me to go for it. Great couple, eccentric but very cool.......

Hi Rod, I've asked her by email and will post here when I get a response. I know she has a bunch of Lotus formula car molds, but I don't recall anything else Lotusish.
