I have to make a gasket to seal my fuel tank sender (the original was an o-ring that I can't reuse). I would think I need to use some sort of fuel-resistant rubber sheet and cut my pattern from that? I'm not opposed to using some type of fuel-proof silicone/sealant in place of a gasket if only I knew which to choose.... Any ideas on this little problem?

Is there a reason you don't want to do another o-ring? Was the old -o-ring one of the hollow types or solid? O-ring is still the best way to seal a flammable fluid container like gasoline. The o-ring is always under pressure in its captive groove. McMaster Carr sells o-ring material in bulk and the adhesive to make your own o-rings. Buy enough to practice cutting the ends square.

My sender has a cork gasket. I'm sure it'll disintegrate over time, but the guy from WEMA said that it's cool for a gasket. It's a standard 5-hole SAE pattern gasket: http://www.wemausa.com/tank-sensors/det ... ensors.htm
