I am working on getting laying out the engine harness for build and I came across the EGR solenoids for vacuum and vent. These are mounted to a intricate metal bracket with two rubber isolators or spacers. Are these rubber spacers critical? It would be easier for me to mount if I get rid of the spacers and mount them directly to the frame.

The Isolators are there for mainly one reason - to extend the life of the hoses and the valve itself. I don't see why you couldn't ditch them.

IIRC, the Miata system is normally closed when off, so you don't have to worry about vibration frequency's messing up gas flows through it.

EDIT: I just re-read the second portion of it, and have no idea what I was trying to say - but I was mid discussion with a co worker about sirometers when it happened and I'm going to leave it so everyone else can scratch their head till I figure it out.
