For a street engine around 2.0 they are probably a bit large unless it is run WOT a LOT or the chokes are smaller than ideal.
Does your Zetec really pull enough air/fuel that you need 45's?
I know some guys using them on very hot 2.0 Alfa street cars but the only guys who truly get their full potential are racers.

On a 3.0 or bigger they are superb, but how many 3.0+ fours are out there?
Three on a six, four on an eight is great.

If you decide to part with them please keep me in mind. :)

We did a lot of research on this issue.

Weber, themselves, advise that the 45DCOE's are perfectly suited to this engine. Apparently, The current crop of DOHC 2.0 liter engines are right on the edge for 40 DCOE's owing to the limited chokes they can accommodate, but the 45's are right on the money. Presumably, these engines breathe far better than engines from just a few years back. In Europe, everyone's using 45's on 2-litre Zetecs, as the 40's proved to be too small.

Interestingly, I reds several threads on some of the Alfa forums, and they were reporting similar off-idle problems, although to a lesser extent than with the Zetec. They, too, are looking at the 5-progression hole 45's as the cure.

Y'know, given the relative prices of hardware, it wouldn't be entirely demented to just weld some injector bungs into the Weber intake, jet the carburetors lean, and install one of the inexpensive closed-loop EFI systems with some small (like BMW K-bike) injectors to trim the mixture as needed.

The Webers would make fine throttle bodies, and they have better fuel atomization than most injectors.

That brings back some not so happy memories of the electrically controlled carburator setup that Mitsubishi used on the G54B engines.

One of the few times I've ever seen an O2 sensor on a carb vehicle. And oh good lord, the vacuum lines...
