Hey guys
I finally designed and plasma cut something beneficial to this group.

I drew up some simple louvers that I can cut from steel, aluminum, or 304 stainless.

this is just design 1. I have them set up to make longer, shorter, wider, add louvers, or whatever. Easily customized in Fusion 360.

As drawn are 4 1/4" tall and 12" long. cut form 16ga steel
designed to install with 1/8" rivets
$50 to your door Continental US

Those are sweet. Great work!

Is that $50 for the pair, or each?

Those look great! Pricing for an aluminum pair?

$60 in aluminum. My supplier jacked prices on me.

It seems louver sets show some promise with the Miata crowd.

Got my first order of my flush design Friday night.

I gave him a little discount as the first guy and one who is willing to share pics of his install.

Then there's the customer who can't leave well enough alone, so I hit him with a significant design time fee.

Apparently fender vents and hood louvers are a thing with the drift crowd.

So far done, NA and NB Miata and just cut a full custom bit of kit for a 2008 350Z

Now there's a full custom piece in the works for a NA Miata. Customer wants a one piece design incorporating the NA lines.
And of course as big as he can get it with as little cutting of the hood structure as possible...

The good news is I'll offer it to the rest of the miata kids when I get it sorted.

Isn't life funny? These louvers could end up giving you more work than you ever wanted.

I guess that's a nice problem to have these days?

Cheers,

I'm hopeful they will. The custom pieces are priced higher than my stock items.
The 350Z parts were 275 and 250 for the Miata bits

Hey, you're not doing this for giggles and shlitz, you've invested in some pricey equipment and you need to earn a return on your equipment and talent.
Good for you

Agreed 100%. Few understand the actual hidden costs involved of the self-employed. From added taxes, to increased medical insurance, and no paid holidays or vacations and more employee benefits you don't get as a self employed. Then there is, as Perry mentioned, the fixed overhead costs. Equipment, expendables and space are not free.

Tommy, your work is fabulous! My son, who has several fish themed wall hangings from a local artist, thinks your work is every bit as nice and your prices are very competitive. The one thing he suggested to me is to add some sort of sizes on your website. He had no reference.

But this is a "vent/louver" thread. Custom parts come with custom prices. Enough said

Good idea on sizing references Chuck. Etsy has me make a comparison or post a size reference pic. There's one chick on Etsy who sizes everything in Pepsi cans; she's memorable.

Hmmmmm.
Not a bad idea. Really no difference to me or the plasma table.
