This is a really cool video review of this car. The translations from Italian to English are also very entertaining.

That was FUN! You made my day.

I'll have to watch it again tonight before bedtime so I have some good dreams. :D

Cheers,

I've watched it a couple of times and here's a hint, headphones definitely make it better! Turn it up LOUD!

That sounds a lot like my car :-) I think he has the older AP1 2.0 liter. It does make me want to get mine street legal for some country driving.

Yes it said he had the 2.0 and a 9,000 redline.

I've got my choice of either.

If you have both the new one has a little more power/torque. My understanding is the best thing you can do is swap the transmissions. My car (05 AP2) would benefit from the AP1 transmission to give it a few more MPH in each gear. The AP1 can afford to lose a few MPH due to higher redline and will benefit from better acceleration with the shorter gears.

That has been exactly my contention for years. I goofed tho.

I bought 5 or 6 of the brand new engines & transmissions from the train wreck of new cars in '04. I was always going to put one of the newer transmissions in my S2000 but never got around to it. Somehow after the dust had settled I'd sold everything except a newer engine mated to the AP1 trans. So I've got the early transmission in my car and on the spare engine.

I've been to several dyno days with the local S2000 club and the 2.2 does tend to make about 5-10 hp more than the 2.0, but they are nowhere near as fun to drive in a big car like the S2000. And in autocross they require an extra shift in a lot of spots which slows them down, timewise.

I hear you with the extra shift. I have a 3.72 rear end so I get about 65 mph in 2nd but its still not enough. Raising the redline with my new ECU should get me around 70mph. Then I have a few options such as AP1 Transmission about 3mph, 3.54 rear end about 3mph and taller tires at about 3mph per inch of height. I would like to get the top speed in 2nd to around 75-80mph eventually. I think tires and ECU is definitely the easiest route for now.

"it's coming and it already came". Hey JD....that sounds sorta like your description of how your car handles!!

Your not the first to offer.

I think there are lots of other things higher on the priority list for make my car faster. A new transmission is a lot of money and a lot of work to change for relatively small returns. If and when I change it I think I would rather buy an AP1 and keep my AP2 as a spare. My engine only has about 40,000 miles on it so I would hate to swap my perfectly good tranny and end up with one that grinds gears or something.

For now I am going to keep the one I have but thanks for the consideration. If you do have a new AP1 trans though I might be tempted to buy it in the future. I'm guessing you want it as a spare though same reason I would rather buy then swap.

Oh man, I read brand new engines and transmission, and I was already googling a route to your place. Then I read that you sold everything, and was very sad.

Is it just me or is something missing here? No I don't mean the fender, I don't see a shock or even a push rod... Care to explain this one?

I like that dash.

Strong upper control arms connected to inboard springs/dampers.

Almost all Strykers used the upper A-arm as an inboard rocker. Fairly narrow A-arm base, like the Series 4 Lotus cars. They also used a frame with a triangular scuttle; a fiberglass dash attached on the back side, and the one-piece nose/hood sealed against the front. The chassis sides are a straight angle from the back to front instead of narrowing at the scuttle. The windshield angle is usually 45 degrees; laid back quite a bit more than a Locost. And they mostly used a one-piece tail section with integral fenders.

The Stryker deviates quite a bit from the usual Lotus/Locost layout, but it's not apparent how much at first glance.
