It's been a while, and I have been busy with work/life. I've been contemplating a full cage rebuild/swap like a.moore did, but haven't been able to get around to it.
I finally got it weighed at Texas Track Works (1513 full of fuel) and they invited me out to a members day at MSR Cresson. So I bought closer to correct springs, changed the brake fluid, oil, coolant, checked all the suspension bolts and a hundred other small tasks to make sure it was ready to go out to the track for some spirited driving.
My sessions weren't impressive. They were running the 3.1 mile course, and it was my first time on that configuration. It was also my first time on the track in the Locost. Using Harry's I was able to get down to 2:41. Here is a local driver, taking me out for a few quick laps. He races Pirelli World Challenge in an NC Miata. It was a lot of fun to see what the car could do, and hear his suggestions on improvements.
When he found out it was a $5,000 build, he couldn't believe it. I took note of his recommendations, and I'll see what I can do.
Man I want a track car, and time to go, and the money for tires, and.....

That footage looks awesome if not slightly terrifying at speed! Can I ask what "closer to correct" springs you chose? I'm also curious what suggestions were made by the experienced guest driver. Your car looks very solid and well sorted for a first time out! Thanks for sharing!

Cool video. It does look slightly scary, but then that's why we build these things, right?
Where does the data come from for the upper left display? Obviously, something (GPS?) is keeping track of your car and then relating that information to a map of the track on a computer. How is the data being sync'ed up to your video? Is that your data collection gear gathering the information? If so, do you have info on it in your build log?
Echoing what was said earlier, that's very impressive for a first time out. Congratulations.
Cheers,
EDIT: I went back and watched the video again with a focus on the data display. Can you tell us what the circle at the right is representing and what the blue and red dots represent? It kind of looks like a tire friction circle, but I suspect it's really related to acceleration (with respect to the chassis and it's direction, not due to the engine) of the car.

I assume from the reference to "Harry's" in the post and the mobile phone in the cockpit, he's using Harry's Lap Timer http://www.gps-laptimer.de to do the data capture and video overlay.
