I did a test quote and it looks like a 1990 Miata in operable condition on an open trailer costs appx $900, from Oakland Ca to my home in Kentucky, just over 2300 miles...

Thanks for that. There seems to be a hundred auto shippers out there and not much to go on to weed out the quality guys from the gorillas. The sites that offer comparisons and reviews are clearly run by a couple of the companies so first hand experience from friends and fellow car nuts is most helpful.

I'll check in with Executive and see what they say. About a grand is number that has come up frequently to make the trip, so the 900 you got is certainly in the ballpark.

Anyone heading east this spring and want to make a couple bucks?
