Sorry if its been posted before, but here's something you've got to see. So you think you're good at working aluminum.

That's the kind of guy you offer to work for, for free, just to see how he does things.

I wonder what the torsional stiffness is of that chassis.

I think I can see what I'm doing wrong. I don't write on my panels enough.

Kurt, I agree - I'd almost pay to work there :)

Re: the chassis. I assume you're refering to to the original Lotus Elan style steel backbone? As seen in the first two pics? Properly made they can be fairly good. I don't know how good or bad the 2000GT one was/is.

"These are roof liners." Roof liners!
"I made Rear panel by just wooden hammer." !!
"I found rear taillight bezel are little different right and left! and I reform rear panel." !!!
"Also front wind shield has not same curve right and left too, and changed A pillar angle and shape." !!!!

w650gb500, thanks for posting this! Inspirational stuff and I may use the 4-bar linkage idea if I'm ambitious enough to do a tilt bonnet. Also, I discovered Anti-Heat on his Carroll Shelby 289 resto page. I'm planning on welding my floor and this may keep the waves at bay.

I doubt that you would learn a whole lot working with him. Guys like that seem to operate on a different wave length. I had a friend who worked with a sheet metal guy. Had him to make up some inner fender panels for his pick up. They walked out to the parking lot, the guy measured the engine compartment with a YARD STICK, made a sketch and jotted down a few numbers. In a week he brought in panels that fit like a glove. You can't learn that kind of stuff.
