Wow, is that some kind of gorgeous aluminum work on that nose!!! Amazing stuff!!! And the ITB fuel injection set up, I'd give my left, uhhh... EAR, yeah, that's what I was gonna say... for one like that, also beautiful and functional!

Looks quite good so far, keep up the good work, Sir! Thanks for posting the pictures.

Is this the car "kit" I saw at Road America at the vintage car week circa 2008?
That weekend, they had 3 original Scarabs on the track (one belonging to Augie Pabst if I recall correctly), along with a display for an all-aluminum reproduction. As I recall, the body was done by Polish craftsmen?
Geek, I'm sure that reproduction display was also one of Dick Kitzmiller's builds. Yes, the replica's body is fabricated in Poland, at an ex Mig aircraft plant. The same folks that make the Kirkham Cobra bodies. The car is not really a "kit" in the common use of the word. It comes either as a runner or as a near-complete "roller sans drivetrain." The latter case is what this one is.

Yes, it was a beautiful body... expensive and seductive and....
And to think it was designed by a 18 year-old art student. The hormones must have been running high that day...

Gonzo, they make ITB's for small block Fords, you know. I'm sure you could swap a spare appendage for one... (Don't tell the goats though.)

Time for another couple of teaser pics of the Scarab project. The frame is powder-coated and final assembly is in full swing. It's a roller and should be out this way in a month or so :D

The SBC bits and pieces are coming together nicely. The engine mock-up photo just shows a few outside components, the really purty ones are inside. The Hilborn unit is getting a heavy massage with some trick mods to vastly improve driveability, deliver OMG power and still retain the vintage look. Should be a screamer. :chev:

Stay tuned. We're looking for some all-American firework by the 4th of July!

Those tires and that engine make me think this car could be an absolutely awesome handful to drive.

LaserRacer, that can be arranged :)

Here's Dingo's rolling chassis waiting for the truck (and its drivetrain.) Won't be long now!

I ran into (almost literally) Augie Pabst at the St Petersburg IndyCar race weekend this spring. I commented on how I loved seeing his Scarab run on the track, and how he must enjoy driving it.

Augie smiles, and then said, "That would be my dad, who is also named Augie." Seems as tho the senior Mr. Pabst, well into his 70's, loves to drive that $3 million dollar car at high speeds at Road America.....

Speechlessly beautiful car! Would love to see a few pics of the ex MIG plant in Poland where the body was created!? The shop looks more like a surgical suite as well....

The guys in the first photo of geek's first link look as if they are smiling "I did something special" smiles.

I'd say they are right.

Not everyone has the ability, no matter how much practice they have, to do the work these guys are doing. I think that is why fiberglass was invented -- and even then, we don't all have the ability to get that right either.

Well the roller arrived in town today and the motor gets final assembly next week. Shouldn't be too long now :D

She sure is pretty. The folks in the ex-Mig plant and the Scarab "works" crew did an outstanding job.
