Reveal was boring, but the pics of the car on the internet look amazing. Looks like an S2000 mated with a Z4 and only got the good parts.

Now if the coupe they promised will come about too.

But they talked about a massive weight loss and it only amounted to 200 lbs. Since they were talking that the car would weigh about what the 1989 version weighed that means I'm disappointed.

They've also been promising a turbo model with a smaller engine (3 cylinder?) for more power and even less weight, but that isn't mentioned anywhere as being in the cards.

I wish the car manufacturers wouldn't promise the moon to get you amped up for the reveals because that leaves you disappointed rather than excited.

That 200lbs brings the weight down to right on 2200... just a few pounds heavier than the 89...

I was absolutely stoked about seeing this... Then 3 minutes in, he puts the band on... Then says nothing else about the car we can't already figure out from the photographs! I really expected something outrageous... This really is a big deal... Models don't last 25 years any more. Small roadsters aren't as common as they were in the 60's and 70's; the MX5 is legitimately a special car. To have handled this reveal like it was the next Camry facelift was appalling...

It is a damn good looking car, though... I'll take mine with a fixed roof, the 16" wheels of the car driven onto the stage...

If you missed the live reveal, here's a link to the video on Youtube. There is a nice little segment in the middle with one of the original designers, I believe...

I think the plot has been lost, it was a standout 1960's suedo sports car, nothing else like it, now just looks like one of the crowd again.
