Subaru announced the standardized platform for all vehicles except the BRZ (Subaru/Toyota)
Others have been doing it for a while.. such as the VW who owns Audi and Porsche with the Passat/A4 and with the Toureg/Cayenne.. in the US, Ford/Lincoln... the list goes on.... but in not such an advertised and celebrated event. Some would think that it might make it harder to sell the upper end cars if you know that the lower end car is built just the same, with all the same base parts. Why spend the extra?
