Here's a brief article and a fun little video (including a ride-along portion) of a Lotus 311 besting the quickest lap previously completed at Germany's Hockenheimring by a Porsche 918 Spyder. This took place in March, 2016.

According to the video display in the piece, it went 200+ KPH on the home straight.

Thanks for posting the video - interesting stuff. I thought the car would be lighter than 1900 lbs though, since it's missing doors and most of the glass.

April 2016 huh? I have a couple questions for that same source regarding stock prices!

Regarding the results... take the Lotus driver and put him in the Porsche, removing driver differences from the equation. If I was Porsche I might do that just for fun.

Quite a lap. Got sideways for a bit there and still made a record. That 2GR-FE is a beast. The acceleration looks positively brutal.

Pretty positive its the 2gr-fe from Toyota/Lexus, with a supercharger. 3.5L v6 with 450 hp.
