To my mind, that's the key "value proposition" in building a Locost as they say now days. If that makes sense to a person, or is the only realistic way in which they will be able to have a high performance sports car, then they should do it.
Another possible side benefit is developing the skill set and acquiring shop tools necessary to construct your Locost. In my case, I know they will serve me well for years, as I do other projects that I have in mind. So that part is a 2-fer for me. It also lowers the cost on future projects as I have the tools and skills already. So, in my case, I guess it's really a 3-fer.
