The car is complete(ish). These things are never "done' but it is as done as any others posted here. So I guess it is about time that I add mine to this thread.

Technical details of the build are near the bottom of the page over here: http://www.locostusa.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=4145&start=540

Just excellent, very nice job. Sounds like it's been a long haul, but worth every minute. And it looks terrific.

Quick question, though. How does the car ride and handle at 1400# with the 350/200 (225?) spring rates? That's very close to what I'm considering, just looking for confirmation, I guess.

Nick, Not really a long haul. I've been on the road coming up to 2 years now. I just never got aroung to posting in the completed builds section. Mostly because I never thought teh car was really complete. I think I had about the normal build time, about 4 years (?). That is, for builders who actually finish thier cars

I don't know for sure what the springs are made to be. I calculated their rate from the wire diameter and the coil OD using several online calculators.

The car generally is a smooth ride. I really can't complain at all for a road car. I can drive mile after mile. With my GAZ shocks, I can set the shocks for a more firm ride if I wanted to. The front seems to work nicely BUT.... I can sometimes bottom my rear tires to the inside of the rear fenders when I have a passenger and even more easily if I have any kind of load on my luggage rack. Up to 12 gallons of fuel lends another variable into the mix. It never happens with only me in the car. I have plans on increasing the rear springs maybe 50# more each to give me a bit more margin. Not much more I can do without either raising the rear fenders, which is not in the cards for my chassis, or crank up the rear ride height, but I'm not interested in doing that.

It is amazing how long the passenger compartment looks when the "lid" is down.

That is simply magnificent! Far too pretty to live in Chicago, I think you should bring it to Colorado. 8)

Well done Chuck. That top works great. It will be a lot easier on the noggin in the sun for those long trips you do. Great job.

Devin, it was good meeting you too. Hope you find more time to work on your car. Would love to see it at some Midwest Gathering in the near future. Done or not done, try to get yourself to the next Gathering. It will inspire you. :zoom:
