Updates.
I finally replaced the steering wheel. The one I got from Gordon looked perfect, but was just too big. The new one is black. It looks okay, but not as classy as wood. The important thing is, it's only 13" so I can actually fit my knees under it, which means I can now move my foot from the gas pedal to the brake in under two seconds.

I had to replace the alternator. I was okay with the original MGB alternator working only part-time, so long as the battery stayed charged. But then it started pegging the voltmeter at 18 volts. The new $70 O'Reilley replacement works perfectly.
I also added an oil cooler, because a friend gave me one. I'm not sure it's doing much besides adding some road-hugging weight to the front end, but I really appreciated the gift.
Nothing else to report. 5000 miles on the car and nothing else has broken. Tires are still the 10-year-old Bridgestones from the donor, now actually starting to show some wear.
I'm commuting in the Locost fairly regularly when it doesn't look like rain. I've done a lot of back-road drives with the local British club, and the car has taken many severe beatings on bad roads without complaint. Still tight as a drum. I also try to go to the local Cars & Coffee every month. Yesterday I went to a meeting of the local Lotus club and no one either cared or knew it was a replica.
The Locost is still a blast and I look forward to every drive in the thing.
