I joined in 2007 and I am really amazed at how the quality for cars keeps getting better and better.
Good job.

Dave,
I agree with the other members. Super nice job. Couple questions if I may. Did you do the rear deck cover, material, snaps, etc.?? How hard was it to do?? Seems like that would make refueling easier than if a metal cover was used, but I guess a 6" square hinged door in the aluminum cover would solve reaching the fuel cell opening with the filler hose nozzle. Looks like you have a "Velcro" closed one in yours?
Thanks,
Don

Oh man, that's gorgeous. If you're going to continue showing your car in public, I recommend coating the entire body with Rain-X, it makes spectator drool much easier to remove.

He covered how he covered it on his build log. There's a link to his build log in his original post, and it's a good read--clear photos, clear writing, and an all-around splendid example of how a craftsman builds a Locost.

[EDIT: Don, here's the page where Dave the how-to about his rear deck:] viewtopic.php?f=35&t=15496&start=180

Rear cover was easy enough... although my wallet may disagree. Basically there are 2 parts, the rear deck which is made out of wood and screwed to the chassis. Then the cover which is vinyl and lays over the deck, this is secured by snaps around the outside of the car and velcro behind the seats. I had the cover made, if I had known how to use a sewing machine I would still have had it made. It was made by a upholsterer that make boat covers as his specialty, and that is really who you need. He reinforced it in the areas it needed it, and generally over built it. It was $350 without the flap and $80 more to add the fuel flap. So not even remotely cheap, but the fuel flap is a must, I figured the cover would get ruined pretty quickly if I had to undo it every time I filled up. The fuel flap has a heavy duty zipper around the perimeter of the flap, so you just reach under the flap unzip and you have access to the fuel cell cap. After watching him spend 3 hours doing the final fitment, I knew I was at least getting my moneys worth.

Been making some tweaks to the car. If you have checked out the build log, you would have seen my engine looked like this.

Well I had done this pretty early on before I knew what the color scheme would be for the car. So last week i decided I wanted to do something a little more fitting for the car. So I tracked done a valve cover for a early 90's Mercury Capri, with a bit of work these can give it a nice vintage look and since the used the motor from the miata they are almost a direct bolt on. I then proceeded to strip, clean, paint, and modify it to work with the miata.

So here it is, its not perfect but pretty darn good.

It never ends.

After months of searching I finally tracked down an off the shelf intercooler that would actually fit the 7. Its a tiny but thick thing from a Toyota MR2, but it fits. I totally lucked out and found an ebay store the same day from a guy that was unloading a bunch of lightly used carbon fiber oil cooler ducts. One of which fits nearly perfectly and has duel inlets. I did some initial recon and it will fit once I assemble some new piping. But since I'm intending to use the car for the next few weekends,I'll wait to install till I'm clear of everything.

You can start to see how this will be configured, I think it will get enough air flow from the NACA ducts to work. At least shouldn't get worse.

Finished up the intercooler setup today. This thing just fit, and really is a cool setup. Now I just hope it works the way it was intended. Did a long drive this past weekend of about 200 miles and managed to cook the teflon coating off the supercharger. So it was time to do this install.

At speed I can only imagine that little intercooler gets plenty of cool air. Great job as usual Dave.
