Home track, Atlanta Motorsports Park through endurancekarting.com. Its an arrive and drive deal, did the same race last year in the rain on slicks and it was rough. Hoping for dry weather this time around.

So another big milestone today. I had yet to write about this, but a month or 2 back I started worrying about emissions. As the car is titled as a 91, I still needed to get through this years test in December in order to be clear through next year and hit the 25yr exemption in 2016. My contact in the DMV said they would be able to assist with getting an exception however they went dark a few months back and I had no idea what was going on with it. So last month after not hearing anything I started to worry and decided to take it to get a emissions test done and get a base line. It of course Failed. So with the failure info, I took it to my tuner and requested that they tune it to pass. Which they did, and it failed. It failed better but not anywhere near close enough. SO I really started to freak, I started researching registering it out of state under a LLC, and any other loop hole, since I didn't really know what would fix the issue. Thankfully though after failing the second time and leaving a obviously freaked out message with my contact, they finally called me back last week and told me it would be fine and that I would just need to come see them and they would push it through without the emissions. Well since you can renew within 60 days, I decided to not take any chances in case this wasn't true and do it today. And ladies and gents, drum roll please... I am clear car is registered for 2015 and thus clear of emission from this point forward, should even be able to get a historic plate next year. Huzzah

Thought I would do a "State of the Locost".

I've had a few updates:

- Installed one of these (http://www.solarcapitalist.com/sae2pin- ... ended.aspx) on my dash under my steering wheel. basically this allows me to plug my trickle charger directly into the dash, thus I no longer have to take the hood off after every drive.

- A few weeks ago I did this while launching it.

Not sure if it was from the launch or missing 3rd gear and hitting 5th. But I snapped the arm clean off. I was still able to drive it home though. Following day I pulled it out and had it welded back up and boxed in. I may still go back and install some aluminum bushings.

- Finally, my braille battery crapped out on me. May be because I wasn't running an alternator until recently. But thats another thread entirely. Unfortunately the warranty had expired, but they were nice enough to discount a replacement. Hopefully this one lives longer that 1500 miles.

Must have left that out of the build log. Basically the large steel bracket is bolted to the chassis.

I was reading a post yesterday about another guys Miata diff that failed in the same place. It might be something to look at strengthening if anyone else has one.

Car looks great by the way I love the Supercharger Whine

He had a welder fix it and added gussets to make it stronger if not mistaken.

Yep, its a designed failure point on the diff arms. Supposed to break in event of a rear end collision. I would recommend boxing it in advance if a car is being built with this diff. It alot easier doing during the build than after a failure. I had to dissasemble most the the rear of the car to gain enough clearance to get it back in.

Yeah it's kinda cool, although the videos are a bit more concerning. Have to make sure I'm not doing anything to stupid when leaving one of these.
