Hi All:

Here are a few photos of my Locost XV build. I haven't been active on this forum for a while, too busy driving my Lotish, and trying to keep a stable of ChumpCar racers on the track and out of the junkyard.

Man, that is gorgeous. Drop-dead, jaw-dropping, heart-stoppingly gorgeous.

You owe me a new keyboard. This one's got drool all over it.

Yes, very nice looking Lotus XV. Any more information about the car? Build log, etc.???

Any other photos of the car, internals, chassis, etc.??

Come on give us a break - don't tease!

Hay Mark, we missed you and the other Mark at The Gathering this year. Are you planning on attending the BCU Brit car Festival this year? I hope to be not travelling on business this year.

Wow, I had almost finished a lengthy reply, when my computer ate it. Guess I'll try the shorter version.
There are threads about this build in the Builders Log, but I struggle with forums and such (makes me sound old).

It started life as a Locost 7 frame (mostly complete), and 3 pieces of 15 fiberglass (light, but rough).

I cut the frame apart and lengthened it (I'm 6'9"), and added pontoons to make the 7 frame look like a 15.
Everything below the beltline is square steel & AL sheet., above is Fiberglass. The body was widened to cover the suspension.

Ranger Duratec 2.3L power, with a Quad 4 Rods adapter to a Thunderbird TC T-5 trans. Corolla GTS LSD rear axle.

I am very pleased with how it turned out, but have only put about 4k miles on it since completion. I thought I would do more more quickly. Life gets in the way, and most of my free time has been spent keeping our ChumpCar team on the track.

It handles like a dream, although sitting over the rear axle can be a bit harsh over pavement cracks or train tracks.

In addition to the Se7ens gathering in MO a few years ago, it has done the Waumandee Hillclimb a few years, and took best Hot Rod at Motoblot, and best Replica at the British Car Union Festival. I have also driven it to the Hawk up at Road America, which is over 300 miles from here.

This car came together while my girls were growing up, so everything was done in small swatches of time, often late at night. I am very pleased with the result, and plan to use it more. It is really rewarding to have your home built draw a crowd, when there are unobtanium cars parked nearby.

Build your dream, you won't regret it.
