Im new here and posting this up as it seams to be the only site around that is into this kind of stuff. i finnished this last summer and all the inspections and legal red tape is done. This is my own design and 100% street legal. see it on the streets in vancouver B.C .

the motor is from a 1982 suzuki gs550 t , i got rid of the quad mikuni carbs and fabricated an intake manifold so i could run a single webber. everything on this trike was built by me. it took 6 months to build from scratch and then another 6 months for the ministry of transport to come up with a catagory to put it in , they also had to come up with the safety guidlines for it ,so i could insure it .

Is it hiding in the massive muffler?

Glad you edited those image files.... That looks like a really cool build. Looks like you've driven it in anger by this point, what were your impressions on the handling. I've seen some similar builds but none finished so discussions on the handling properties involved a lot of speculation and theory. I'm interested in hearing your real world impressions.

Also, are those upper A arms longer than the lower? If so won't that yeild a positive camber gain on the loaded side when the chassis rolls?

Cool!

What is "AMT-3"?

Why didn't you use the mikunis?

What is the rear wheel and hub from and how did you adapt them to the sprocket?

Where is the cup holder?

A deer/truck rear bumper/etc guard in the form of A pillars and roof hoop would be a good idea. You never know when you might get rear ended and shoved into something too.

[color=#BF0000Update aug 2010. the trike has a new engine. Just installed a 141hp kawasaki zx9r motor. pics soon to come. my calculated hp/ ton is 420. a veyron has 456

amt machine shop is my company 3 is for three wheels so AMT 3 is what i called it. I didnt use the mikunis as they were to difficult to get set up correct with the mods to the engine, i needed more tunning room and the webber was the best choice as parts are plenty and easy to get. the rear wheel is a normal car wheel 15 inch diameter by 8 inches wide i machined the hub out of the motorbike wheel and machined the car wheel so i could bolt the two together. the rear also uses the motorbike brake and a mechanical brake for the emergency brake. No cup holders. the frame is constructed for 1.75 DOM with a .095 wall , i have done alot of rally car rollcages and this is the material used for that so it is more than adequte for my project.

As far as handling goes it is amazing. i can take corners so fast and it responds so precise. It is truly a gokart for the street.

this is the drive side. there are 8 drive pins and 8 bolts holding the hub in place.

I'm sure the frame is fine, but it is below the belly of deer and below the bumper of most trucks. If you get hit in the rear, the trike will launch into what ever your stopped behind. The first thing that hits will be your helmet between the bumper and the rollbar.

The AMT3 thing sounds familiar. I think it has been brought up before here.

i am aware of your concerns for safety , but you cant argue with the fact that it is safer than a motorbike. When you drive a vehicle like this you tend to be alot more aware of what is going on around you, i especially keep out of peoples blind spots and try not to stay beside big rigs. I only drive this in the spring and summer. That said accidents still happen but that is a risk you take on a daily basis regardless of what you drive.

also we dont get deers in the city of vancouver so im not to concerned about that.

i saw it as soon as it was posted... I hit the new post hyperlink and it was at the top of the list. It was just a bunch of pics of a muffler on what looked to be an evo... Do I perhaps have privileges I shouldn't?

Sweet! Evo's rock! Hopefully this spring I'll be able to buy a house and start a few projects. I'm dying to start cutting and welding...

A tadpole trike will def be one of them.
Do you race the evo?

Nice!
Very nice machine!

I really like it when someone posts a finished, or at least, driving vehicle.
Too many times a builder starts a thread and after a year or three of slow progress the project fizzles out and never gets finished. Way to go!

I do agree that safety is relative. We strive to be as safe as possible but realistically, if we want to be truly safe we would all be driving huge and heavy cars or trucks. The smaller and lighter the vehicle, the potential for damage and injury goes up. But, if we drive like we are riding a bicycle and are invisible to others and we PAY ATTENTION to what the other people are doing (because they aren't!) then we have a chance to avoid most bad situations.

Thanks for posting the pictures

That's pretty cool! I work in Vancouver but haven't seen your machine on the road. Is that a picture of Granville and 41st Ave?
