The site will be down for a while to upgrade our phpBB installation. Sorry for the interruption.

We updated the phpBB software on the site Sunday night. If you see anything weird, please reply to this thread.

It looks like the quick reply box was turned on again. I actually prefer it off, but I'm not sure how others feel. It's handy, but if I feel strongly enough to post I don't mind clicking reply first. The reason I like off is that then the bottom navigation bars can be accessed without my needing to scroll the page down from the last post. I suppose I could just up my screen resolution, though.

I feel like erioshi feels. Quick reply boxes inspire quick replies, I prefer replies that take a bit of thought. I might not have posted my stupid "nO,i THINK IT LOOKS FINESGRNBJDK" but there was that quick reply box right in front of me and it was so darned easy...

I think the fact that the "view active topics" link has totally changed function, and has been seemingly replace by "{SEARCH_UNREAD}" qualifies as wonkiness, from a usability standpoint if not a functional one. How do the two differ, as compared to the previous iteration of "view active topics"?

And another....

viewtopic.php?f=43&t=11289

Don't know if the increase in spammers (2 different ones) in <24hrs is due to the changes or not.

These are a side effect of the software upgrade. These current spammers registered before the change, and they are only slipping through the net because we don't use a post approval queue with the new system.

So I guess in a nutshell, their posts would have been stopped in a the approval queue with the old system, which isn't utilized or needed by the new system since the automated spammers wouldn't have been able to register to begin with. Since they are already registered, we may have to wait for them to post and delete their accounts or delete all registrants with 0 posts.

Regardless, the Hempster will deal with them.

I think view active topics only looked back 2 weeks, search unread went back to March 2010 for me. It gets one of these  from me

"view active topics" is not working for me, I get 2 posts from today, 2 from yesterday and one from the 14th. This is by far my most used feature, it's going to be a pain if it does not work.
