I'm having trouble uploading/adding an avatar to my profile. I PhotoShop'd my picture of choice to 160x160 pixels and jpg'd it to low quality and it's size was 48KB, which exceeded the 9.77KiB allowed (I read that is 9770 Bytes.) I even tried downsizing to 80x80 pixels but ended up with an 18 KB file size and poor picture qualtiy.

No animatioan involved, just a simple car pic.

Any suggestions on editing a photo down to an acceptable size? Thanks.

Tom

Try changing the format to .gif or something.

If you post the photo I can try to mess around with it.

You shouldn't have much trouble getting it down small enough as a 160x160 .jpg. Crank up the compression (crank down the quality) and you'll find a good balance.

FWIW, I just upped the avatar max size to 16,000 bytes, just so the youngsters don't call me old fashioned.

Thanks reddeth and Dave. I was able to squeeze it down to just under the (new) limit.
