Perry, you are making good progress. Keep up the log.

As for the scuttle height, JD nailed the right thread. I refer to your use of square tube, mind that there will probably be a slight rise in the scuttle fore-to-aft. To fit the square tube correctly, that tube will most likely have to be slightly angled. If is it the front tube, that will cause the firewall to tilt forward causing the bonnet edge to extend further at the bottom, causing you to spread the bonnet sides upon removal. Only you can determine if that is acceptable or not. If it is the cockpit tube, the same applies but it is less of a concern.

Most builders angle the scuttle sides inward slightly off-plane with the sides starting at at that intersection. It helps to lower the "perceived" height. Also most scuttles have a gradual curve from one side to the next. Exaggerating this curve will lower the side height also lowering the "perceived" height. If you are looking at building the scuttle, then there are several of us who built our scuttles sans a full-frame. The best of both worlds IMO. Here are a couple of shots showing my construction which is very stable when all assembled.

wow thanks Chuck.. you guys are great..i really like your idea of the scuttle frame and the sheet metal..i may even have to have a rethink now.. thanks for the pics..i had already nicked them and they were sitting in my pics file.along with a whole lot of other scuttle pics..i like your idea its a cool way of doing it.the only reason i was persevering with the bends i have was they were on the freebe list  :)

cheers  Kiwi Dave

Hmmm... Think she'd fancy a trip to the US??? Grid-girl for Team Slotus!!!
(Gawd, I hope TWWTFM doesn't see this... She'd slap MY face off!)
